Oak Ridges Church takes the health of the people who form our community and attend our gatherings very seriously. During this time of heightened concern related to COVID-19 virus, we are taking steps to ensure the safety of all who participate in the life of our church, as well as the greater community. We recognize the possibility for the virus to spread rapidly and widely.
The Ontario government has limited places of worship to host in-person worship gatherings during the Red Level for up to 30% capacity ( 35 people ). However, due to the fact that some of our essential volunteers travel from other regions where the restrictions are stricter, our decision is to honour the spirit of the government's directives and to not encourage members to cross over the regional line. Regretably, we are not able to run in-person worship services until further notice.
Online worship will continue live each Sunday at 10 a.m. through the Facebook Live link provided above. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 statistics for York Region.
Other programs of the church will remain suspended for the time being except for ESL ( Conversational English as a Second Language ) which continues to offer online sessions. For more information, click on the ESL link on this page.
It is our desire to express the compassion of Christ in all we do. Therefore, we are working to live out that value as it relates to the spread or COVID-19. If you have flu-like symptoms, or have travelled abroad, please consider others by placing yourself into self isolation for no less than 14 days. If you are concerned that you may have the COVID-19 virus, please pursue next step information at the York Region Health webpage ( york.ca/covid19 ) or telephone Health Connection at 1-800-361-5653, or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.
We continue to pray for those who have the virus and are suffering from its symptoms, in Canada, and around the world. This is certainly a time for increased vigilance, but it is also a time to declare our trust in the Lord who helps us in times of trouble.
If you have questions or suggestions we encourage you to contact Pastor Keith Montgomery by telephone or email.
